Internet fax is the process of using internet for sending fax messages. Not only this, you can also receive fax messages through internet. This process is slightly different from normal faxing. In the traditional method, a scanned copy of a document was faxed from one fax machine to other. But in internet fax, the same process is done using the internet. It is a cheaper and easier method of sending a fax.

The conventional process of faxing involves two fax machines and a phone line. The fax is sent by putting a scanned copy of a document through a fax machine and a copy of that document is reproduced at the receiving machine. This copy is sent through the phone line that connects the two fax machines. There was a drawback with the traditional fax machines that only one fax can be sent or received at a time.

Now, the internet based fax follows a slightly different process. It involves a computer, a fax machine and a telephone line. The process of sending fax through internet is very simple. It is sent through modems as they have become very common these days. You don't have to print the document before putting it into the fax machine.

Rather, in internet fax the document is sent to the other fax machine using the modem. This process is pretty simple, fast and economical.

One thing that must be noted here is that for receiving fax via internet you need to check your e-mail account. This is a problem as you never come to know that you have received a fax till you check for it yourself by logging in. This is supposed to be the biggest drawback of this system as far as internet faxing is concerned.

So, Internet fax is an economical and a very fast method of sending and receiving fax messages. This latest mode of communication is being used widely now.
